Pre-Sales Engineer Germany / North-Rhine-Westphalia (m/f)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer (m/f) for the Western part of Germany, i.e. in the Cologne/Duesseldorf/Bochum area. The Pre-Sales Engineer will be part of the Germany Sales Team and will also need to travel to other countries in or outside EMEA for business or training purposes. This role is home-based.
The primary business objective of this role is to work closely in a team with the Regional Sales Managers (RSM) on customer projects during the complete sales cycle, and to act as interface to customers, partners and internally.


Job Duties:

  • Primarily provides pre-sales technical support for the development and implementation of complex products/applications/solutions.
  • Uses in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to sales staff and the customer through sales presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and may prepare detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer products/applications/solutions.
  • Create detailed design and implementation specifications for complex products/applications/solutions based on our products and technology partners.
  • Create a technical proposal for the customer on the full project, interaction with cross business units like Professional Service, Product Marketing, Technical Advisors and WW Architects.
  • May build a mini-application based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client.
  • May provide consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation.
  • Support sales and partners on tender work regarding solution design and description as well as product specification.
  • Support the Channel team in developing and growing the Quantum business at partner level; this will include training, updates, and demonstrations.

  • Distinguished by additional specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth, as well as record of success in sales.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and to translate into our product and solution capabilities.
  • Viewed as an expert in the field, having wide-ranging experience, using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Strong skills in SAN and network environments.
  • Strong skills in primary storage systems.
  • Skills with Archive and backup processes regarding software and hardware.
  • Skills in technical workflow on the following markets, Automotive, Life Science, R&D, Media and Entertainment, Oil and Gas.
  • Analyzing skills, attention to detail, and delivering results on time.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as without supervision.
  • Ability to work on projects in enterprise and distributed environments.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others can understand, and to position the company and our products at different technical levels to inspire, trap, and inform.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to understand the business units and responsibility to involve the appropriate people for customer project success.
  • Ability to create formal networks with key decision makers and serve as an external spokesperson for the organization.
  • Fluent language skills in German, and technical English essential.
